What is Osteopathy?

Osteopathy is a holistic model of healthcare that considers the connection between mind, body, and lifestyle. Osteopaths are university-trained allied health practitioners, registered with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA). At Neu Horizon, we use evidence-informed, hands-on techniques and movement strategies to support your body’s ability to recover, adapt, and perform. With qualifications in both osteopathy and clinical naturopathy, Dylan combines structural, movement-based, and lifestyle-focused approaches for well-rounded, integrative care.

Techniques & Services

  • JOINT MOBILISATION & MANIPULATION

Gentle adjustments to improve movement and reduce stiffness.
    (only when suitable)

These techniques help restore normal joint motion and relieve discomfort by improving mobility in restricted areas. They are always applied safely and only when appropriate.

  • MUSCLE ENERGY TECHNIQUE (MET)

Active stretches guided by your own muscle contractions.

MET uses gentle resistance to lengthen tight muscles, improve joint range, and reset imbalances. It’s cooperative, with you actively participating in the movement.

  • CRANIOSACRAL OSTEOPATHY

Subtle, calming techniques for the nervous system.

This gentle approach focuses on the head, spine, and sacrum to ease tension, support nervous system regulation, and encourage whole-body balance.

  • MYOFASCIAL RELEASE

Hands-on therapy to ease tightness and restriction.

By targeting fascia — the connective tissue surrounding muscles — this technique helps release tension, improve circulation, and restore fluid movement.

  • DRY NEEDLING

    Targeted relief for muscle tightness.

Thin, sterile needles are used to release trigger points, improve blood flow, and reduce pain. This is considered case-by-case and always explained beforehand.

  • MOVEMENT & EXERCISE PRESCRIPTION

Practical tools to support your recovery at home.

Stretching, mobility, and graded strength work may be included to reinforce treatment, build resilience, and help you move with more confidence in daily life.

Our Approach

Listening First

Every consultation begins with your story, so we can understand what matters most to you before planning the next steps.

  • Understand the Whole Picture — look beyond the sore spot to consider posture, movement habits, lifestyle, stress and work demands.

  • Begin Gently — use the least-force, most-appropriate treatment first, and progress only when safe and useful.

  • Blend the Right Tools — combine manual therapy, movement strategies, education and habit changes into your plan. With qualifications in both osteopathy and clinical naturopathy, Dylan may also incorporate evidence-informed naturopathic principles and lifestyle support where appropriate.

  • Encourage Active Self-Management — provide practical tools so you can take ownership of recovery between sessions.

  • Work as a Team — collaborate with your GP or other health professionals when needed to support long-term outcomes.

Osteopathy is a hands-on profession. You’ll always have treatment options explained, and consent is sought before anything begins.

Children & Teenagers

Growing bodies can face unique challenges — from posture changes and growth-related aches to sport and neurodevelopmental concerns. We use developmentally appropriate care, practical guidance, and exercise programs that build flexibility, coordination, and confidence. A parent or guardian attends all appointments with minors.

Adults

From work-related stiffness to pregnancy to weekend sport, life’s demands add up. We support pain, mobility, performance, and prevention with a blend of manual therapy, exercise, and lifestyle strategies. For those managing long-term conditions, we offer collaborative care plans.

Older Adults

Ageing doesn’t need to mean losing independence. We focus on keeping you active and confident with gentle manual therapy, home exercises, fall-prevention strategies, and guidance for daily activities like walking, yoga, or Tai Chi.

NDIS Participants & Capacity Building

We support people to build strength, coordination and confidence for daily life at home, work, school and in the community. Care may include movement assessment, posture advice, land or water-based exercise, and recommendations for supports. For self- or plan-managed NDIS participants, therapeutic supports may be available — please check with your planner or case manager.

Who We Help

Your First Visit

A thorough history, movement assessment, and discussion about what’s driving your symptoms. Together we set goals and outline a plan. Initial sessions usually run 30–90 minutes depending on needs and booking type.

Treatment & Progress

Expect a combination of hands-on techniques, movement coaching, and simple strategies to take home. Progress is reviewed regularly, with space to adjust and refine.

Fees & Rebates

  • Private Health: Rebates may be available — check your extras cover.

  • Medicare (CDM): With a GP Chronic Disease Management plan, rebates may apply for a limited number of allied health visits per calendar year.

  • NDIS: Access depends on your plan — please confirm with your case manager.

What to Expect

FAQ’s

  • You’re welcome to book directly — no referral is required. If it’s helpful, we’ll keep your GP or specialist in the loop so your care feels joined-up.

  • Yes. We start with the gentlest options and check in with you every step of the way. Nothing happens without your consent, and your comfort guides the process.

  • That really depends on your goals and what’s going on for you. Some people notice changes quickly, others need more time. We’ll review as we go so you always know where you’re at.

  • Not at all. Every plan is individual — blending hands-on care, exercise, breath work, or lifestyle support depending on what feels right for you.
